A 9 year-old girl walks in to the New York Public Library and steps out on an alphabetical adventure in the short film “A is for Aye Aye: An Abecedarian Adventure” by Ft. Greene filmmaker Augusta Palmer, which has its NY theatrical premiere at the BAMkids Film Fest on Sat Feb 27 at 12pm and Sun Feb 28th at 2pm.

The A-Z elements of Aye Aye are culled from the legendary New York Public Library’s Picture Collection, an alphabetically organized treasure of over 1 million image clippings dating back to 1915. Palmer completed the film for the 100th anniversary of the collection in 2015. In the film, a young girl brings 100 years’ worth of images to life when she befriends an aye–aye—a lemur from Madagascar—in the picture collection.
(Note: children are $10 admission.)
