The Nest Project Comes to the Wyckoff Bond Community Garden
April 22 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Beginning Earth Day, Saturday, April 22
The Downtown Brooklyn community is invited to take part in an extraordinary performance art/photography event over two weeks in April when the acclaimed photographer Debbie Baxter brings her Nest Project to Boerum Hill’s beautiful Wyckoff Bond Community Garden.
In her own words, Ms. Baxter is “honoring the feminine, the mother, Mother Earth, and our connection to home” by inviting “people of all sizes, shapes, colors, and orientation to take it all off and hop in The Nest and be photographed. Because, no matter who you are, when we strip it all down, we all come from the same place: the womb. Don’t be shy! Come get in The Nest! And, for those of you who are shy, don’t worry. There will be curtains to block off the area.”
The nest will be constructed on Earth Day, April 22, scheduled private photography sessions will be held on Thursday, April 27, Friday, April 28, and Sunday, April 30, and unscheduled but private sessions will be held on Saturday, April 29, on a first come, first served basis.
The resulting fine-art photographs will be made available in digital form and will become part of the permanent record of the project, which has traveled to venues like the Burning Man festival and the January Women’s March in Washington.
