BACKGROUND: This Valentine’s Day, who needs a date when you can love your local library? Brooklyn Public Library is partnering with New York Cares for the fourth year to bring some of the season’s good will into the doors of Brooklyn Public Library. In addition to participating in fun volunteer and community events throughout the borough, Brooklynites who want to show their love for BPL can head to one of the six “blind date with a book” displays around the system: local librarians, some of the most expert match-makers in our communities, will wrap select books in paper— writing out just a few teasers about what’s inside (“strong female lead” or “magic!”). Adventurous readers can check out the book knowing only what’s been written about it, and voila! Instant love match.
