Music of Reality at NoiseGate Festival 2016

The inaugural NoiseGate Festival is a collaboration between The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN) Global Arts Initiative, Citygram, Harvestworks, Monthly Music Hackathon, Music of Reality, Kadenze, ThinkCoffee, and University of Redlands.  Festival website: http://www.unsdsnarts.org/#!noisegate-festival/z49gr

The theme of the festival centers on the environment in a broad sense and sustainability solutions, while also aiming to bring awareness to spatial noise, with a particular focus on urban noise pollution.

Music of Reality’s program on Friday, Sept. 23 will blend acousmatic, acoustic, and electroacoustic works that center on noise and the environment. This concert will feature physicist Matthew Kleban who will speak on “Pure Noise: Discoveries from the Cosmic Microwave Background”. Composer and Citygram founder Dr. Tae Hong Park will also give a talk on urban noise pollution.  Music by David Ibbett, Stephen Cabell, John Luther Adams, and Jaime Reis, and featuring sonifications of the cosmic microwave background by David Ibbett.  Performers: Sophia Subbayya Vastek, pianist and David Ibbett, electronics.
