Moving Sounds Festival 2013 at Littlefield (Day 2)

September 21 and 22, Austrian Cultural Forum New York in collaboration with European Cultural Institutes of New York, presents Moving Sounds 2013 – Klangkörper / Bodies of Sound at Littlefield in Brooklyn. Moving Sounds, now in its fifth year, is an international festival of artistic exploration at the intersection of music, movement, sound, and performance art. The festival boasts over a dozen events of music, dance, improvisation, visual media, and aesthetic dialogue that features emerging and pioneering artists from New York, Austria, and around the world.
4:00 PM: Film Screenings – Spontaneous Disruptions curated by Anna Nuse
5:00 PM: Trapping
Based on artist Andrea Bianconi’s book, Romance, this performance includes a video by Bianconi, members of the FLUSSO Dance project directed by the choreographer Vanessa Tamburi, and a new musical score composed by Sebastien Sanz Santamaria.
6:30 PM: Carol McGonnell, clarinet
Works for solo clarinet by Stockhausen and Bernhard Lang
7:00 PM: Resonance
Developed by William “Bilwa” Costa, Martín Lanz Landázuri, and Emily Sweeney, resonance explores figurative, physical, and mechanical phenomena related to the resonance of sound.
8:00 PM: Rachel Bernsen’s After the Meadow, Before the Forest
An ongoing exploration of the open spaces between minimalism and maximalism, structure and improvisation, and unison and independence as they relate to sound and movement.
