On the occasion of the revised edition of Miron Białoszewski’s A Memoir of the Warsaw Uprising, we host a panel of distinguished editors, scholars, and translators to discuss the invaluable, harrowing account that Czesław Miłosz described as “as a faithful, antiheroic, and nonpathetic description of disintegration.” The book’s translator, Madeline Levine, will be joined by historian Timothy Snyder (Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning) and fellow translator Alissa Valles for a discussion moderated by Edwin Frank, editor of the New York Review Books Classics series. This is event is co-sponsored by the Polish Cultural Institute, New York.
