MAPLE? ELM? OAK? TAKE A GUIDED TOUR THROUGH GREEN-WOOD

Dec 3, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

tree-id-walk

Green-Wood is home to over 8,000 trees, boasting one of the largest collection of mature trees in the city. Identifying the individual species is not always easy, especially if you’re a true urbanite. On Saturday, December 3, 2016, Joseph Charap, Curator of Plant Collections at Green-Wood, and Bill Logan, founder of Urban Arborists, will turn you into the tree expert you always knew you could be. Stroll through some of the cemetery’s 478 acres of expansive green space to learn how to identify trees based on their leaves, bark, roots and form. Dress warmly and prepare to become very knowledgeable, arboreally speaking. Registrations are recommended.
