What: SECOND SUNDAYS at Pioneer Works, Center for Art and Innovation

When: Sunday, April 12 from 4:00-10:00 PM

What: A series presented by Pioneer Works the second Sunday of the month that features live music, exhibitions, food, and open studios from 4:00 – 8:00 pm by: Clocktower Radio, David Colosi, Nanotronics Imaging, Hyon Gyon, Robyn Hasty, David Horvitz, Joséphine Kaeppelin, Christopher Kardambikis, and Jessica Vaughn

(4:00 – 6:30) Clocktower Radio invites the I Love Vinyl DJ troupe, DJ Senz, DJ Jester, and surprise guest DJs into the studio to kick off the evening’s festivities.

(5:30; 7:30 pm) Living Room Index and Pool, an exhibition and performance by Yuri Masnyj and Lauren Bakst.

Live music by TERRY DAME’S SCIENCE MUSIC ROADSHOW (6:30 pm), A conducted ensemble of improvising instrument inventors and experimental sound explorers.

Live music by SMOKEY’S SECRET FAMILY (8:00 pm), An exploration of African dance music from the 1950s that focuses on the rich era of Congolese music that is marked by a Cuban rumba influence on older popular African styles, Smokey’s Secret Family combines brilliantly fluid guitar work with joyful horns and percussion.

All performances and interviews captured during the Second Sundays events, are streamed and archived for on demand listening on the Clocktower’s Pioneer Works Radio Channel.

Main Exhibitions:
Under Construction — New Positions in American Photography, a group show presented by Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and Pioneer Works Center for Art and Innovation featuring ten young American and Canadian photographers.

Living Room Index and Pool, an installation and performance by Lauren Bakst and Yuri Masnyj that explores the ways that rooms and their objects create containers of affective experience.

Cost: Suggested donation of $10

SECOND SUNDAYS is a monthly series of open studios, live music, and site-specific interventions presented by Pioneer Works the second Sunday of every month. The series showcases artists in residence along with musical performances and DJs, curated in partnership with Olivier Conan.
