LIVE AT THE ARCHWAY: POPGUN PRESENTS RODES ROLLINS +
ARTIST INTERACTIVE AT THE SPACE STATION: POP UP GALLERY + LIVE ART EXPERIENCE WITH MELANIE HOPE GREENBERG

Rodes Rollins is a psychedelic rock, Americana-inspired singer-songwriter based out of Brooklyn. Hailing from Colorado, Rollins draws much of her storytelling inspiration from western landscapes and sounds, and likes to refer to her music as “cowgirl poetry”. Rollins released her debut EP Young Adult in early 2017, which quickly put her on the map as an artist to watch.

PopGun Presents was founded in 2008 by Rami Haykal and Jake Rosenthal, in a live/work space in Bushwick, Brooklyn, with the idea of celebrating and advocating for the artists and music the founders cared about through live music. The duo is now a full-scale events production and promotion, music curation, and venue management collective, who book and promote shows, and build and operate independent music venues and arts spaces in New York. With its multifaceted music production experience, PopGun Presents will bring musical talent specifically for the Archway’s unique setting.

Melanie Hope Greenberg has published illustrations with UNICEF, the Children’s Defense Fund, Southern Poverty Law Center, NAEYC, as well as hundreds of images in magazines, on greeting cards, and gift items. She has illustrated 17 published picture books, six of which she wrote. Her books have won awards and are on notable, honor, and library reading lists. “Mermaids on Parade” has been called a “classic” by New York City’s official marketing and tourism organization. “Down the Subway” was selected as a New York Times Great Children’s Read. Melanie was Artist-in-Residence for the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art’s first National Endowment for the Arts Grant. She has exhibited her picture book illustrations in solo and group shows at top galleries. She presents author- illustrator workshops for elementary students, as well as hopeful and published picture book writers and artists, at schools, libraries, conferences, museums. She blogs for the Huffington Post, contributes art activities to an education website, and has an award- winning personal blog called Mermaids on Parade.

The Space Station, by This Friday or Next Friday, premieres at this year’s Live at the Archway. Tfnf is likely the tiniest, most inconsequential art gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn, probably in NYC, and maybe on the face of the earth. It was founded by Nathan Sinai Rayman, and he runs it with Zach Seeger, his Director of Programs.

Live at the Archway–a curated series from the DUMBO Improvement District & The Lighthouse–showcases the best of DUMBO and Brooklyn talent, presenting a broad range of music and performance genres. This season brings sizzling salsa, Colombian cumbia, swing dancing, world roots music, sultry R&B, an Italian modern dance troupe, puppetry, funk, DJs and more. With beer, wine and bites from The Lighthouse and epic scenery below the Manhattan Bridge, it’s the best place to be every Thursday night. Concerts & events take place on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
