Level with Octo Octa, Patricia, and Trevor Luikart at Bizarre
Feb 15, 2014 @ 11:00 pm - Feb 16, 2014 @ 4:00 am
Level is an electronic music showcase founded on the maxim that the best moments in music are born out of a willingness to take risks, by both artist and audience. Every month, Level will explore a new theme or genre of future music.
This month we’re very excited to welcome some fast rising talent out of Brooklyn. Trevor Luikart, Octo Octa, and Patricia will be taking us through a night of experimental beats and deep vibes in the basement of Bizarre. Expect things to feel like a nightclub in an aquarium around 2060.
OCTO OCTA DJ SET (100% SILK)
Michael Bouldry-Morrison is a new face in the electronic music scene, but he has been plugging away at this music thing for years. His first release, Let Me See, was released in 2011 on 100% Silk. The years since have seen him tour internationally, participate in the Red Bull Music Academy, and continue a consistently high output of original house music. His sound finds space in between Chicago and German deep house, bass music, r&b, and ambient leanings. We’re very excited for his DJ set at Level.
PATRICIA (OPAL TAPES)
Boomkat described Patricia’s last release on Opal Tapes as “some GHB fantasy flashback of a warehouse rave in New York’s halcyon house daze” and Fact Mag named them a “Producer to Watch” in 2014. Other than they’re based in Brooklyn, we don’t know much. Decidely not a DJ, Patricia will be playing a live set for us in the basement.
TREVOR LUIKART (BARO RECORDS)
In a world of tween pop stars and of-the-moment DJ’s, it can be refreshing to see an artist who’s more focused on his craft than promotion, on sound over social media. Trevor Luikart is one of those artists. Trevor is a music-school dropout raised on drum ‘n bass who’s spent the last 10 years creating and updating a live setup that is based on true improvisation. With a release on Baro Records already in 2014, it looks to be a big one for Luikart as he begins to share his sounds with the rest of us.
Level’s resident DJ has been looking for the perfect party since way back when, but got his start in Brooklyn at the (in)famous Garden parties in Williamsburg. Since then, he’s been on stages from New York to London with his trademark genre-hopping and a constant thirst for new sounds. He’ll be opening and closing down Level.
