As part of their project “Street Signs Became Flags that Mark Mountaintops,” part of BRIC’s “Housewarming” exhibition, and its interest in field research and discovery, Katarina Jerinic and Chad Stayrook have curated a lecture series, inviting other artists to present on their work that explores the urban landscape through methods more commonly used to study the natural world.

James Walsh
“A Voyage to the Arctic”

Artist and writer James Walsh will read from a series of letters he wrote to a friend when he embarked on his ongoing project The Arctic Plants of New York City. The letters, often written under harsh if exhilarating conditions, give an account of his voyage to discover the surprising number of plants that are common to both New York City and the Arctic.
