KEVMO BIRTHDAY SHOW: KM SLOW LIFE, JORSCAN & MAITRI
January 30 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm| $7
Kevin Moehringer’s 35th Birthday Show featuring his band, KM Slow Life, along with guests Maitri and JorScan.
Maitri (Sanskrit translation ”my tree”) is an unconditional friendship and acceptance towards oneself that in turn extends to the greater outside world and its people. This group was formed by Caroline Davis (voice/woodwinds/keyboards) to embrace both the hardship and ecstasy of life through song, and it is now a collective songwriting outlet for both herself and Ben Hoffmann (voice/keyboards/drums). Incorporating a heavy dose of soul and R&B, Maitri also draws upon indie influences, to create a unique sound in the Brooklyn musical landscape.
KM Slow Life is an indie downtempo jazz trombone quartet featuring Ari Folman-Cohen on bass, Douglas Bradford on guitar, and Nicholas Anderson on drums. Founded in 2011, Slow Life recently released their debut album in the spring of 2016. Slow Life explores the quieter end of the dynamic spectrum and utilizes the lyrical qualities of the trombone.
JORSCAN, led by bassist/em’cee Jordan Scannella combines the interaction, story-telling and wit of hip hop, with potent grooves and musical sophistication. Keyboardist Romain Collin provides a mad array of colors, textures, and flavor while Josh Giunta brings unyielding support and nuance on the drums. Guitarist Adam Minkoff keeps it dirty in the cleanest way possible. The songs are a mixture of humor and drama, foibles and fiasco, mixed with the occasional punch in the gut.”
