National Book Award finalist (and former Brooklynite) Joshua Ferris is beloved for the dark humor and pathos of his novels And Then We Came to the End and The Unnamed. His newest novel To Rise Again at a Decent Hour is another profound and hilarious novel about the mysteries of modern life. At its center is New York dentist Paul O’Rourke, a man of contradictions: a Luddite addicted to his iPhone, a rabid Red Sox fan devastated by their victories, and an atheist not quite willing to let go of God. When a website, Facebook account, and Twitter feed are mysteriously created in his name, Paul must confront not only the confusions of identity theft but his own longings for family, community, faith, and love. Greenlight is honored to welcome Ferris back to Brooklyn to present his novel, which has been selected as the Greenlight Bookstore First Editions club title for May.
