Inside the Archives: Fulton Ferry Slip

Mar 6, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free
Fulton Ferry Station on the Old Main Line - Fulton Line in Brooklyn, NY, ca. 1902

Almost 200 years ago, on May 10, 1814, Robert Fulton built the first steam ferry to run from the old ferry slip in Brooklyn to New York City. Join Archivist Carey Stumm on a virtual journey through Downtown Brooklyn’s transportation history and the development of horse car, omnibus, trolley, elevated lines, the Brooklyn Bridge, and eventually the subway lines into Brooklyn — all stemming from this local ferry slip. This program highlights photographs and archival materials from the Museum’s extensive permanent collection.
