Inaugural Monthly Ethics and Law Breakfast – Repentance and Forgiveness in Law, with Justice Michael Gerstein

Sep 20, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

| $10

Every healthy society needs strong morals and values to build upon. We will be hosting a lecture/discussion with a delicious breakfast one Sunday a month with guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields.

Are there moral absolutes? Can ancient Jewish wisdom provide meaningful guidance for our modern society?

The ancient Jewish tradition has much to say about contemporary life questions. Its values can shed light on ethical living today. In this series we will be comparing and contrasting the wisdom of our sages to the contemporary views of secular law and society.

Over the course of the Ethics and Law Breakfast series we will be tackling moral questions from all areas of life: from medical ethics to questions of criminal law to environmental responsibility and inter-personal morality.

Come to hear from leading experts, and join the discussion on moral problems that we encounter in our personal lives, and ethical challenges facing us as a community.

The inaugural Ethics and Law Breakfast will be on Sunday, September 20.

This month’s guest speaker is Justice Michael Gerstein , a New York City Criminal Court judge, who will be joining Rabbi Menashe Wolf in discussing Repentance and Forgiveness in Law .

Should the courts take into account a criminal’s regret for their crime? Can a victim forgive their attacker and let them go free?

Join to find out the answers to these questions and more.
