Human Impacts Institute’s Brooklyn Waterfront Treasures Bike Tour

Spring is finally here! Wrap up Earth Week with the Human Impacts Institute’s Brooklyn Waterfront Treasures Bike Tour.
Participants should meet at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory (1 Water St. Brooklyn, NY 112014) at 1pm ready to bike! Participants must provide their own bike, helmet, water, and any other necessary personal items. Youth are welcome with adult supervision.

The tour will stop at various iconic locations where a special guest speaker will give a different talk about the East River waterfront, including:

(1pm) Brooklyn Bridge Park: Connecting the Waterfront w/Sustainable Transportation Speaker (15 min including Q&A): Bill Di Paola, Times Up! Environmental Organization
(2pm) Grand Ferry Park: Tracking Community Changes: Interactive Map Building Speaker (15 min including Q&A): Wendy Brawer, Green Map System
(2:30pm) East River State Park: History of Our Brooklyn Waterfront Speaker (15 min including Q&A): Parks Ranger, New York State Department of Parks and Historic Preservation
(3pm) WNYC Transmitter Park: Life on the waterfront–plants and animals Speaker (15 min including Q&A): Jason Beury, NYC Parks Gardener
(3:30) Newtown Creek Nature Walk: Understanding combined sewer overflows and water pollution prevention Speaker (15 min including Q&A): Korin Tangtrakul, Storm Water Infrastructure Matters (SWIM) Coalition
