Oct 27, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

| Free
Beverly Buchanan (American, 1940–2015). Old Colored School, 2010. Wood and paint, 20 1/4 x 14 3/4 x 18 1/2 in. (51.4 x 37.5 x 47 cm). © Estate of Beverly Buchanan, courtesy of Jane Bridges. (Photo: Adam Reich, courtesy of Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York)

Beverly Buchanan’s work explored the relationship between place and memory, in dialogue with feminism and art movements like Land Art and Post-Minimalism. Nevertheless, Buchanan has largely been excluded from the history of art of the 1960s and 1970s. Curator Lowery Stokes Sims reflects on her early relationship with the artist, in conversation with a younger generation that has been inspired by Buchanan’s work. Participants include critic Andy Campbell and artist and curator Park McArthur. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Beverly Buchanan—Ruins and Rituals.

Free as part of Thursday Nights hosted by Squarespace.
