Fire and Firefighting in Downtown Brooklyn

Oct 5, 2014 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

| $20

Fires, in their own right, can shape cities, and firehouses are some of New York City’s most intriguing works of design. Join renowned tour guide Francis Morrone on this tour of fire history – from the intriguing architecture of grand firehouses, to the scene of the infamous Brooklyn theater fire (whose victims are commemorated at Green-Wood Cemetery), and even the modern, newly built headquarters used by the department today. Architectural historian Francis Morrone was named one of the 13 best tour guides in the world by Travel + Leisure Magazine.

This event is the first installment of Brooklyn’s On Fire!, a four-part series sponsored in partnership by Green-Wood and Brooklyn Historical Society, dedicated to the history of Brooklyn’s fire, firefighters, firehouses, and more.
