BRIC continues its series of House Parties, with special daytime activities, including family dance classes, film screenings, art making, and other participatory activities; and a nighttime musical main event, with a live band, DJ, and dance party.

“Face Your Self” or How to be a Nigerian Woman in One Step | A performance by ruby onyinyechi amanze
BRIC Biennial artist ruby onyinyechi amanze will present a performance in which she will tie a traditional Nigerian headwrap (or gele). Perhaps if you fold, unfold, crease, bend and repeat, you will become yourself. Can a gesture of authenticity be learned? Is it okay to keep trying at imperfection? Maybe and yes.

Work with artist Aisha Cousins to make a button related to themes expressed in her Brer Rabbit BRIC Fireworks Residency project. Then discuss these topics futher on camera with props in front of a green screen, recording your message to be part of Brer Rabbit project.
