Feeling Gloomy – (We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang
February 18 @ 10:00 pm - February 19 @ 4:00 am| $6
We do Feeling Gloomy year-round, and sometimes it’s a little tough to motivate yourself to feel down when the sun is shining and everything seems right with the world. This is not one of those times.
Many of us are not just feeling upset, but frightened, angry, and for some of us, motivated. It’s hard to forget even for a few minutes of brief escapism. Music is how we primarily see the world, and right now so many songs feel charged with new urgency or studded with nuance previously unseen.
So rather than escape into songs about breakup and heartache, for one night we’re going to get all of our emotions out by playing all of the pissed off, charged up songs we love. So, this is not going to be an evening of sludge metal, it’s going to be an evening of post-punk, indie, britpop, synthpop, glam etc songs about being teed off and keyed up.
TO HELL WITH POVERTY
Call your Congressperson today! Tell them your opinions and make sure your voice is heard. Then tell a friend to do the same thing. Show our door person your text to your friend and we’ll knock $2 off the cover charge.
KICK IN THE EYE
Have we got frustrations to take out on the world? Boy have we! We’ll provide a punching bag for you to productively work out those feelings without concerns about violation of rights or fear of doxxing by internet jerks. We’ll even let you decorate the bag how you like (i.e. it may end the night wearing a Pepe pin).
All night long DJs Gordon and Nathaniel Gloom will play songs about politics, monsters, riots, heads rolling, biting the hand that feeds you, getting (no) satisfaction, panicking in Detroit, nothing ever changing, losing control, being angry, being confused, and being ready to kick some ass (figuratively). Plus we’ll throw in a some gloomy favorites that seem even more relevant in the times we’re living.
