Nate Waggoner has read his humorous prose at several Hoover Dam shows, and is founding member Theo Boguszewski’s cousin. A distant relative of theirs, Rod “The Father” Waggonerowitz was an infamous cult leader in California in the 1960′s. Waggonerowitz passed away earlier this year, inexplicably bequeathing Nate a collection of mysterious tomes. The tomes, if read aloud, are said to have the power to bring about the end of the world.
It’s time to bring about the end of the world.
On April 21st, a series of brilliant writers will read from the first book in Waggonerowitz’s collection. The books vary wildly in tone and often seem to come from a perspective impossible for a 1960′s cult leader to imagine. Sometimes they are eerily prophetic, as though Waggonerowitz was possessed by the spirits of future talents. At times the performers will not even appear to read from anything– perhaps they are only acting on the directions given by the tomes.
Either way, there will be an all-star lineup of performers:
Joe Rumrill (https://twitter.com/2tonbug)
Cassie J. Sneider (author, “Fine Fine Music”)
Ryan Sartor (Difficult to Name reading series)
Amira Pierce (NYU)
