DUMBO First Thursday Art Walk
Sep 4, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm| Free
On the first Thursday of every month, DUMBO galleries stay open late and local restaurants and bars offer specials, for a night of art, gallery openings, artist talks and live performance. The September edition includes David R. Head Jr. and Rubin’s Bad Vibes, which explores the dark side of the psychedelic era with a sound installation, murals and prints; the pop-up exhibition of paintings, works on paper and sculptures In Sheep’s Clothing: Animals as Symbols in Contemporary Art, curated by Dexter Wimberly; and the Triangle Arts Association’s opening reception of Tamar Ettun: Performing Studio, a month-long hybrid exhibition space and artist’s studio.
The gallery floor at 111 Front Street is the main hub for the Art Walk, and printed maps are available on-site. Visitors can enjoy incredible views of the East River and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as they walk from one gallery to the next, and can enjoy local drink specials after their tour. The event is free and open to the public.
