The Diamond 8th Anniversary Party
Jul 2, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - Jul 3, 2015 @ 2:00 am| Free
Thank you for your support! What kept you coming? The great location several blocks removed from anything? The low ceilings? The lack of liquor? We have lots of great attributes!
Anyways, tomorrow is a celebration with all drafts and wine by the glass at half price from 5-8pm. What’s more, all 8 drafts are Diamond “greatest hits” that we’ve especially loved through the 8 years.
Special Anniversary Beer List for Thursday:
Schneider Weisse< Oh, what a hefe. Refermentation in keg gives Champagne bubbles but the high carbonation makes it very difficult to pour on draft. We are proud to be one of the few bars in NYC that can make it flow. And we are going back to an old Diamond tradition….keeping this beer on tap now through the rest of the summer. Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted First time available on draft since summer 13’! This is a lovely Scottish bitter brewed with Hersbrucker, Challenger, and Styrian Golding hops. The Challenger gives it the “Twist” of lemon flavor for which it is named. Psyched to get this back. It JUST arrived and we are probably the first American bar to pour it this year. Local Option Dampfbier From Local Option Bierwerker out of Chicago. We LOVE this hybrid: all BARLEY malt beer fermented with German WHEAT beer yeast for a really unique flavor profile. Brian Ewing of 12% Imports brought Tony and Noah to visit us when the Dampf first went into production. They were brewing enough just for their bar and a few others in the Chicago area. And after that visit, we became the only bar in NYC to get it for a long time until they finally upped production. Greenpoint Pottery Hill This is a fairly recent “classic” for us as the Greenpoint Beer & Ale Co. is only about a year old. But its the beer I’ve been waiting for since we opened. A true session beer at 3.2% with way more earthy, nutty, balanced goodness than you’d expect. If one needs something stronger, so be it. But if you are a lightweight, it’s nice to have this around. So happy to have Chris and Eric killing it in our backyard 2 blocks away! Central Waters Lac Du Bay IPA Another recent addition last year, this is the spring seasonal IPA from a great little brewery in Wisconsin. It’s robustly fruity with balanced hop character. I love “English-y” IPA’s but it’s hard to find one this good. Solaris (New…instant classic?) Yes, I know I said 8 classics, but we had to have something NEW with which to celebrate a bar that is, under normal circumstances, constantly pouring new beers on rotation right? Solaris is a wild beer brewed by the highly elusive OEC in Connecticut (Ordinem Ecentrici Coctores) and blended with Sarasola Cider from the Basque region in Spain. We don’t have sharp edges on the beer list today save for this one. Enjoy! Sly Fox Pils Certainly can’t do this anniversary without Sly Fox. Our mainstay. Our staple. Our flagship. Our $5 pint. Perfect combination of bready grain and crisp hop bitterness. In the Northern German style for pilsner which should be the only style of Pilsner made by anyone. Reissdorf K?lsch< Come get a Kranz of K?lsch and share with your friends. It’s what you do at the Diamond in the summer. Technically a hybrid of ale and lager with a warm fermentation followed by cold maturation. This golden ale is light and soft on the palate and slams easy.
