Dear 2016: Stay the Hell Away from Morrissey (Feeling Gloomy <3s Moz + the Smiths)
Jun 18, 2016 @ 11:00 pm - Jun 19, 2016 @ 4:00 am| $6
2016 has been a harrowing year, so we’d like to take a moment to be thankful for something. On this day, Morrissey is alive and kicking, writing questionable books and still making headlines. It’s been too long since we’ve taken the time out of our busy lives and busy Feeling Gloomy calendar to appreciate all of the melancholy that Moz has gotten us through, so this month we’re going to do just that.
So join us for a celebration of the Smiths and Morrissey as only Feeling Gloomy NYC can do it: with dolorous thoughts, gallows humor, and immaculate taste in all things depressing yet danceable.
PAINT SOME VULGAR (MORRISSEY) PICTURES
Our favorite painter/singer and frequent Gloomy attendee Matt Lineham will be on premises. He’ll be selling prints of his amazing New Wave Saints series and his Where’s Morrissey mashup of Moz and Where’s Waldo.
Join us in the first-ever-according-to-one-Google-search-I-just-did Morrissey Cosplay. Come as old Morrissey, young Morrissey, indignant Morrissey, bespactacled Morrissey, Morrissey if he had been born a woman, Morrissey if he had been born a Stark (probably the son of Lyanna and Rhaegar), Morrissey however you like it
REEL AROUND THE FOUNTAIN
Think you’ve got Morrissey’s moves down pat? Come on up and lipsync to your favorite Moz or Smiths torch song and you could win fabulous Morrissey prints by Matt Lineham and more*

IT SAYS NOTHING TO ME ABOUT MY LIFE
Morrissey famously hated on DJs, but could even he hate an entire dance party based around his own music? Ok, yes, quite likely he could, the man has an unfathomable capacity for disliking things. But still, YOU won’t be saying these songs say nothing to you about your life (except when you sing along with that lyric) because FGNYC DJs Gordon and Nathaniel Gloom will be unloading Smiths and Morrissey solo songs on the dancefloor as if they were gladiolas. We’ll play the sad bastard anthems you know and love and mine deep for the gems you probably also know, and we’ll fill things in a bit with our usual coterie of depressing Anglophilic dance anthems.
