Dan Zanes House Party: A Program of Songs and Stories from America’s Neighborhoods

Nov 9, 2013 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

| $15

Grammy-Winner Dan Zanes, whose music is a hit with kids and their families across the world, is partnering with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (BCM) to launch an innovative new music education program for children ages eight months to four years. In the Dan Zanes House Party: A Program of Songs and Stories from America’s Neighborhoods, which launches in February 2014, children and their parents will sing, dance, listen, and learn to make music an integral part of their everyday lives in a series of relaxed and lively gatherings.

Developed by Zanes and leading musicologists and early learning specialists, the multicultural curriculum encourages young children to learn about and interact with the music and stories of the various cultures that make up America’s neighborhoods. Although The House Party offers much that will help young people become curious, aware, and musically confident, at the heart of it is joy. Zanes says, “Music-making, story telling, and dancing are some of easiest and most natural ways for us to have a good time with each other and that’s really what we’re talking about: togetherness and fun! In The House Party we’ll encourage wonder, creativity, mystery, and a sense of life’s best possibilities.”
