CREMATION: HISTORY AND MODERN PROCESS

March 16 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

| Free
Green-Wood Logo 2

When cremation was first introduced in the United States in the 1860s, it was obscure and rarely practiced. However, as of 2015, cremation rates surpassed those of burial in this country. On March 16th and May 18th, Green-Wood invites the public to find out a bit more about cremation, how it works and how it all began. Death educator, Amy Cunningham, will present on cremation’s history and its impact on the present and future of funerals. This engaging and sometimes even light-hearted discussion will give attendees a better approach to this often emotional subject.

Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the crematory with Green-Wood’s Crematory Manager, Gema LaBoccetta, and then chat with Cunningham and other guests at a short reception.

This event is free. Reservations are recommended. To make an online reservation or to find out
more information, visit www.green-wood.com/toursevents or call 718-210-3080.
