Choral Chameleon presents ‘If I Left The Zoo’

May 22, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

| $25 Advance $30 Door

In this concert, 12-voice ensemble Choral Chameleon (2015 winners of the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming) will explore the spiritual lives of animals from the dawn of time in the book of Genesis to the creatures delighting us daily in our Facebook feed.  If we were to leave the zoo we build for ourselves, what could we learn from them?

Central to the program will be a performance of Britten’s choral wonder, “Rejoice in the Lamb” on the texts of the ahead-of-his-time 18th Century poet, Christopher Smart. Other program highlights include ‘Prayers From the Ark’ by Ivor R Davies, ‘Such Beautiful Things’ by Jeffrey Parola and a vocal arrangement of the Beatles’ ‘I am The Walrus’ that you must hear!

To round off the experience, Choral Chameleon’s talented singers are taking animal videos from the Internet and are creating devised choral soundtracks for them from start to finish via an improvised rehearsal process.

Also on Saturday May 21st at 8pm
