The Mizik Ayiti! Summer Concert Series is back! Join us for our sixth year as we showcase musicians of Haitian descent and bring them to the forefront of the New York City performing arts scene. This HCX summer event occurs once a month from June through August, featuring up-and-coming artists and seasoned musicians whose music and experience connect to Haitian culture.
This first installment of this 2017 concert series will feature performances by the very first cohort of Lakou NOU artists: Sabine Blaizin, Rodney “Okai” Fleurimont, Veroneque Ignace, and Sherley Davilmar. HCX will also be introducing the newest group of Lakou NOU resident artists. Lakou NOU (“OUR Yard” in Haitian Creole), is HCX’s newest program, providing artists with the opportunity to create and present new work by connecting their skills and talents to four traditionally under-served neighborhoods, home to generations of Haitians and Haitian Americans: Crown Heights, Canarsie, East Flatbush, and Flatbush.
