Brooklyn Symphony Concert Celebrates Jazz Age Paris
February 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm| 25 at the door, $20 online, Seniors and Brooklyn Museum members $10, Children 16 and under free. College students with current ID can get discounted tickets at the door.
The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra’s February concert strikes several playful notes with George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” a symphonic poem celebrating the riotous sounds of the modern city (the score includes those famous French taxi horns!) Also on the bill are selections from William Walton’s 1922 “Façade” and the overture to Jacques Offenbach’s opera “Orpheus in the Underworld,” the source of the ubiquitous “Can-Can” music. Gabriel Fauré’s otherworldly “Pelleas and Melisande” Suite rounds out the program.
