Brooklyn Museum’s November Target First Saurday.

The Brooklyn Museum celebrates the diversity of Brooklyn and the exhibition Connecting Cultures: A World in Brooklyn at November’s Target First Saturday. The free evening begins at 5pm with music from Ilusha Tsinadze’s Georgian band (see photo) which fuses Eastern European melodies with traditional jazz and American roots music. At *6pm Chief Curator Kevin Stayton will discuss the inspiration behind the installation of Connecting Cultures. Following will be Pop-Up Gallery Talks, informal art-making and movement workshops, music with Lafawndah, at *7pm the Belladonna writing collective presents a multigenerational reading, *8pm the Brooklyn Film Festival will present a series of shorts exploring the immigrant experiences in Brooklyn, *8:30pm Patricia Park discusses her novel Re Jane and at 9PM OSHUN performs neo-soul and hip-hop that pays homage to the Yoruba river deity of the same name.
Admission is FREE from 5-11PM
