BREW XII: An Evening of Literary Works

Featuring readings by:

SHAWN FRAZIER is completing his first novel, called Darlington. A chapter from the forthcoming book was published by Quail Bell. His story, “Jacob and The Owl” won the Mary Shelley Contest and was published in Rosebud Magazine. He received honorable mention for a short fiction contest in Ragazine Magazine. His short story, “Nne,” is featured in the special edition of SQ Mag, “Dark Fairy Tales.” FLAPPERHOUSE recently published, “How Emma Jean Crossed the River,” in their #8 winter edition. In addition, his story, ‘The Shadow’s Insomnia,’ has just been published in FLAPPERHOUSE Issue #12 (Winter 2017). Artist Laura Christensen commissioned and accepted Shawn’s short story, “Thank You, Morpheus,” for her upcoming anthology of image to print stories.

NANCY HIGHTOWER is an award winning author, editor, and college teacher. She has published short fiction and poetry in journals such as Entropy, storySouth, Heavy Feather Review, Sundog Lit, FLAPPERHOUSE, Cheap Pop, Gargoyle, and Word Riot. In 2015, Port Yonder Press published The Acolyte, her first collection of poetry that rediscovers myth and ritual through a surreal, feminist interpretation of biblical narratives. From 2014-2016 she was the science fiction and fantasy reviewer for The Washington Post. She is currently working on a book about digital fictions with Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky).

MONICA LEWIS lives in Brooklyn, New York and holds an MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts. Both her fiction and nonfiction have appeared or are forthcoming in Apogee, AAWW’s The Margins, and The James Franco Review, and her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Rust + Moth, The Boiler Journal, Yes, Poetry, FLAPPERHOUSE, Breadcrumbs, the Shade Journal, and the anthology, “TOUCHING: Poems of Love, Longing, and Desire” by Fearless Books, among others. She is a VONA/Voices alumna and an assistant editor at NOON Annual. Her full collection of poetry, a collaboration with Joanna Valente, is forthcoming in 2017 by Unknown Press.
