Brando, Jimmy Flamante, The Papis
February 21 @ 10:00 pm - February 22 @ 2:50 am| Free
Free like the air we breathe but full of goodies, this evening event
will be. We are glad to invite you this February 21st to Starr Bar in
Bushwick, BK to witness a display of very eclectic and groovy
performances. Come share a pint and a good time with us and your friends, while we all get down to some live beat making, a lot of trippy fusion and definitively some very out of this world vibes.
A very excinting live mixed performance of Future Experimental Hip Hop. Brando’s music reflects a strong late 90s Hip Hop influence through pounding Beats and funky synthetic bass lines that blends incredibly with his Jazz and Latin Fusion heritage. ‘Lo que se hereda no se hurta’ just like how they say back in his home country Venezuela.
Another amazing Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist. Jimmy is a
veteran of the Caracas Beat Making scene, that though unknown to most was an extremely fertile ground that brought incredible gems just as the likes of Jimmy Flamante’s music. His distinctive style of beat making is clear when you watch this gentleman perform. A table full of gadgets is his canvas of sounds that he smiths out Hip Hop beats with, live in front the captivated audience. Not a show to miss if you’re down to watch an artist create some of the most swingy beats out of thin air.
Hypnotic and warm, is exactly how The Papis would be described. The sweet melodies that this simple but powerful Rock n’ Roll duo brings to the Bushwick indie scene are often described as Church Punk. Their style is inspired by a specifically one album from one band. The Papis fell in love with the Futuristic Blues sounds in Spacemen 3’s 1989 album ‘Playing with Fire’. Ernesto and Ethan agree that the wavy, droney and drum-less rock n’ roll landslide that their Heroes created, is a solid ground on which to build on. Not short of originality this promising act believes on creating a new path following the echos of previous sonic poets.
