Bourbon Express, Country Provisions, The Needmore Brothers, Kings County Ramblers at The Rock Shop!
Oct 23, 2013 @ 7:30 pm - 11:30 pm| $8
Bourbon Express began in the summer of 2011 with the chance meeting of co-founders singer-songwriter Katie Brennan and multi-instrumentalist Brendan Curley, two country music enthusiasts who (unbeknownst to each other) grew up within a country mile of one another in and around Tacoma, Washington. After that initial meeting, where the idea of forming a band was proposed, Katie’s longtime friend and percussionist Kevin Sport joined ranks and guitarist/lap steel player Ben Serby followed shortly thereafter. Bourbon Express is currently trying out new material at club dates in New York City and hoping to record an album soon.
Country Provisions is a NY-based country band that plays a mix of originals and covers. Its members are a collection of hard country-lovin’ music veterans with origins in varied regions of the United States.
The Needmore Brothers
The Needmore Brothers came together in upstate New York, where Cliff Westfall and Matthew Horn realized they shared not only a love of roots music but also a philosophy: They don’t need much but they need it real bad.
Cliff Westfall is a singer/songwriter and native Kentuckian now living in New Jersey. He is the former lead singer of the Steamboat Disasters, a country band that played on stages all over New York City, and has been a guest performer with acts including Chris Erikson and the Wayward Puritans and the Gowanus All Stars. Matthew Horn splits his time between NYC and Callicoon, New York. He has recorded and/or performed live as a member of: A Don Piper Situation, Ed Rogers, Syd Straw, Peter Salett, Radio Free Song Club, Kathy Ziegler, and a host of others.
Kings County Ramblers
We’re a scrappy group of pickers emerging on the Brooklyn scene. Playing a great style of music that brings together bluegrass, rag time, Americana and impovisational jamming. Everything from fast paced cookin with gas to slow eerie numbers of old. The way music is supposed to be. A good time celebration. Come check us out!
