|| BOUND || Exhibit & Fundraiser for IRC and Planned Parenthood

March 25 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| $12.00

||BOUND || exhibit and fundraiser. A meditation on the female bond through still and moving imagery.

||BOUND || grew as a response to the current cultural and sociopolitical climate. A look at the dichotomy of women being bound – bound to one another in unity, solidarity, femininity, strength, experience, sisterhood …But also bound to expectations, oppression, cultural and societal pressures, dogmas, history, judgements.

The imagery brings together the symbolic and literal. Women bound to one another by their hair. A physical and figurative bond among women. Hair-an extension of our most intimate and most visible selves, of our history- femininity, identity, power, class, culture, individuality, beauty – femaleness- all bound to hair.

Julie Asriyan is an actor, producer and multi-platform artist. Her creative work extends to film/TV, theater, print photography, writing, movement, web, and mixed-media content. Her recent work draws focus on and explores the female experience through transmedia storytelling.
