Books in Babeland: A Sexy Reading Series

Join us for the sexiest literary event in the borough! At our monthly installment of Books in Babeland, poets Sara Wallace, Michele Madigal Somerville, and Susan Brennan will read while you enjoy cocktails and sweets. Arrive early; the first ten guests will receive a free gift. Curated by Louise Crawford.

Sara Wallace is the author of The Rival, winner of the Agha Shahid Ali Poetry Prize (forthcoming in April 2015 from The University of Utah Press) and the chapbook Edge, winner of The 2014 Center for Book Arts Poetry Chapbook Competition. She lives in Brooklyn.

Susan Brennan in the author of the chapbook, numinous (Finishing Line Press) and Drunken Oasis (Rattapallax Press). She is also a screenwriter and has staged several of her poems with aerialists and puppets. Her website is tinycubesofice.com.

Michele Madigan Somerville is the author of “Wisegal” (Ten Pell Books) and “Black Irish”(Plain View Press). Her verse has appeared in Mudfish, Puerto del Sol, Hanging Loose and other publications. Her Web site is Fresh Poetry Daily.

General Information

Babeland workshops are open to people of all genders and sexualities, individually, in couples, or in groups. You must be over 18 to come to the workshops or store.

Free events do not require an RSVP unless noted on the individual event. Free workshops are short mini workshops and are not as in-depth as our full, paid workshops. These mini workshops review highlights from our most popular classes or cover topics not taught in our longer workshops. Free workshops are 15-20 minutes. They start on time, so arrive early.

All Babeland stores are wheelchair-accessible.
