Join PUNCH and veteran food writer Peter Meehan for the New York launch of By the Smoke & the Smell, a memoir and manifesto on artisan spirits by Thad Vogler, owner of San Francisco’s Bar Agricole and Trou Normand. This beautiful new memoir is a globe-trotting bender that will introduce you to a rich cast of characters who craft the world’s best mezcal, Scotch, bourbon, Cognac and rum.
Welcome drinks will be served at 6:30 pm, followed by a conversation between Thad & Peter about the book and Thad’s mission to bring “grower spirits”–spirits with provenance, made in the traditional way by individuals rather than by mass conglomerates–to the public eye. Copies of the book will be available for purchase & signing on-site.
