Bombay Rickey + Mappa Mundi + Kafari and Jeff Beam at Tea Lounge

Jul 19, 2014 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

| Free

Bombay Rickey: Called “the future of music” (New York Music Daily), Bombay Rickey is a five-piece band from Ditmas Park, Brooklyn that defies easy categorization. With a unique sound evocative of ‘60s movie soundscapes, the band plays both covers and original music that borrow equally from the worlds of surf rock, cumbia, spaghetti-Western, and Bollywood, balanced out with a little coloratura soprano.

Mappa Mundi: The members of Mappa Mundi all washed ashore one day on this lush and lonely island, each one having followed a very different map toward a new verdant world. Steeling nerve and body against the elements, wild beasts, and blood thirsty cannibals, they continue to cast out into the sea with the strains of their music, hoping one day to be found.

Jeff Beam: Jeff Beam is a multi-instrumentalist from New England. Inspired by the likes of Elliott Smith, Deerhunter, & the Olivia Tremor Control, Beam is embarking on a solo tour this July. The set will feature acoustic renditions of Beam’s experimental psychedelic songs, complete with vocal effects, cassette loops, and a Leslie speaker.

Kafari: Kafari is the solo musical moniker for Ahmad Hassan Muhammad. A member of the prominent psych-jazz New England band JAW GEMS (Teenarena Records), the Cincinnati native presents a captivating one-man show filled with keyboards, samples, sound collages. Kafari lands somewhere between Flying Lotus and Ella Fitzgerald.
