ArtWalk: Art + The Built Environment in Sunset Park & Industry City
Oct 3, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
More Art is excited to announce our next ArtWalk in Sunset Park! Visit one of Brooklyn’s most diverse neighborhood and discover more about local art and architecture as we celebrate the closing of our summer programs inspired by artist Sari Carel’s sculpture and sound installation, Borrowed Light.
The tour will start at Industry City and the Dedalus Foundation where we will learn about their upcoming projects and ongoing effort to foster public understanding of modern art and modernism as well as promote the work of founder, Robert Motherwell.
Afterwards, noted historian and founder of New York Like a Native, Norman Oder will wind us through the historical streets of Sunset Park including a visit to the famous retail district, providing an overview of some of the neighborhood’s most prominent landmarks— including the park itself.
We’ll conclude the tour with a private artist talk with Sari Carel about her recent public sculpture, Borrowed Light. To create the work’s sonic component, Carel worked with the park’s stewards to research and record the area’s wildlife. She then wove these field recordings into a multi-layered soundscape.
Reservation is required and space is limited | Please RSVP: firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your spot!
