Court Tree Collective presents: Artist Txelo and El Gravat Restaurant POP UP
Good friends Uri Sala and graphic artist Txelo are taking over the space for a one day event. Uri is a chef and owner of Catalan nouveau restaurants El Gravat and Atlántida. Txelo is a well established graphic artist living and working in Barcelona. Uri spent many years working as a chef in Brooklyn. He opened El Gravat 4 years ago in a small city called Vic, just north of Barcelona. El Gravat a Brooklyn inspired restaurant promotes new foods and art each month. They exhibit both local and world wide artists. Therefore bringing art and culture to the small city of Vic. Sound familiar? It’s no secret the connection we have helped inspire Court Tree Collective. We are really excited about this. In his own words:
My name is Uri Sala. I have been working as a cook for 15 years and I am a lucky person. During this time I´ve had the opportunity to work with great cooks and even better people: Paco Guzmán (Restaurant Santa María, BCN), Paula Casanovas (Restaurant Les Petxines 1 Michelín Star, Lloret de Mar), Ferrán Adriá (Restaurant El Bulli, 3 Michelín Stars, Rosas), Xavier Codina (Restaurant La pancha del Bisbe, BCN) Toni Sala (Restaurant Fonda Sala, 1 Michelin Star, Olost) Nandu Jubany (Restaurant Can Jubany, 1 Michelin Star, Calldetenes) amongst some other. I spent some years in NYC. I had a very interesting experience there working as executive chef for Mercat in Manhattan and Mercat Negre in Brooklyn.
It´s been almost 4 years since I opened my first restaurant: El Gravat, in Vic, Barcelona. We serve dishes from here and there always trying to put our souls in them! One year ago I opened my second restaurant, Atlántida, also in Vic. I work as a chef in both of them.
I come back here in Brooklyn because I love it and also to participate in the opening of “Love your idols” exhibition, by Txelo which will be launched at the Court Tree Collective.
