Ariel Schrag and Maris Kreizman at Greenlight Bookstore

Jun 18, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free!

Ariel Schrag is the author of four acclaimed graphic novels about her life in high school, and has written for HBO and Showtime. In her funny and poignant debut novel ADAM, Schrag puts a fresh spin on questions of love, attraction, self-definition, and what it takes to be at home in your own skin. Adam is a skinny, awkward teenager from small-town California sent by his parents to join his older sister Casey in New York City, where he is plunged into the wild lesbian subculture she inhabits – in which everyone assumes he is female-to-male transgendered. When he meets the (lesbian) girl of his dreams, Adam wonders if passing as trans might actually work in his favor. Schrag talks about gender, honesty, and underage drinking with Maris Kreizman, former book editor and creator of the beloved literature/TV mashup blog Slaughterhouse 90210.
