Anna Rose @ Rockwood Music Hall 1.28
January 28 @ 8:00 pm| $10
New York-based rocker Anna Rose may have a sweet name, angelic blonde hair, a petite frame and unassuming smile, but the truth is, Anna Rose is a bonafide spitfire of roll and roll passion. She’s a true guitar head who doesn’t mind getting her fingers bloody. Think Jim Morrison’s sexy bravado with Janis Joplin’s vocal prowess. It’s the dichotomy of muscle and feminine, retro and modern., strong and vulnerable that makes Anna Rose a true musical talent that stands out amongst the crowd, a force to be reckoned with.
Last summer, Anna Rose shared her critically acclaimed record, Strays In The Cut via Noble Steed. In support of the release, Anna Rose went on a nation-wide tour and continues to play select dates across the country. Strays in the Cut is a collection of six mesmerizing tracks that find Rose at the top of her game, pushing musical boundaries in pure ass-kicking style. Of the EP, Relix Magazine claims, “Rose has music in her blood – her father Alan Menken composed the music for some of Disney’s most classic films-and it shows on Strays In The Cut, whether she’s ripping through the country-rock tinged ‘Under My Skin’ or letting it all go down easy in the crooning, Jenny Lewis-esque echoes of ‘Start A War’. Strays In The Cut follows Rose’s Behold a Pale Horse, once praised for “beautifully [representing] the many dark and beautiful corridors of the human heart.”
A fusion of excellent story-telling, rock and roll and the blues is what you’ll get at an Anna Rose live show. In the past, Rose has toured with Crystal Bowersox, founding member of Live, Ed Kowalczyk, Tyler Hilton, Howie Day, among others. In addition, she just returned from Dubai, having performed at the opening of their newest theme park.
Anna Rose has been featured in Interview Magazine, Exclaim!, Elmore Magazine, Paper Magazine, When The Gramophone Rings and Relix Magazine’s WOMEN WHO ROCK issue alongside Grace Potter and the iconic Bonnie Raitt.
