On Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 8 pm please join us for a Brooklyn Book Festival Bookend Event featuring ADAM LANGER, ERIN GLORIA RYAN, SONIA SARAIYA, JENNIFER DeMERITT and more. The event takes place at Over the Eight, at 594 Union Ave. in Williamsburg (L train to Bedford or G train to Nassau).

Born and raised in Chicago, Adam Langer is the author of the novels Crossing California, The Washington Story, Ellington Boulevard, and The Thieves of Manhattan, and the memoir My Father’s Bonus March. His latest novel is The Salinger Contract. His has written about books and authors for such publications as the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Washington Post, among others.
Erin Gloria Ryan is the news editor at Jezebel. Her work has appeared on the Gawker network, XOJane, Autostraddle, and as a part of Amazon’s Kindle Singles series. She’s also written for VH1’s Best Week Ever. Erin moved here from Chicago a year and a half ago and, tragically, still hasn’t found the New York City taco of her dreams.
Sonia Saraiya contributes regularly to The A.V. Club, covering programs such as “Downton Abbey,” “Scandal,” and “The Man With The 132-lb. Scrotum.” She has had her essays published at The Rumpus and has read her fiction here at Animal Farm and to other audiences—mostly her cats. She also is the founder CATCALLED, a women’s writing project on street harassment. Sonia had the privilege of losing on the nationally televised game show “Jeopardy!” in 2012.
Jennifer DeMeritt has been published in nerve.com, Glamour, BUST, TimeOut New York and The Villager, and has performed widely in New York’s spoken-word venues, from KGB to Gotham Comedy Club. She’s currently writing a memoir entitled “No Touching” about a very special housecleaning service.
