HERE’S WHAT WE GOT
Science and technology are part of the American story. Innovators, explorers and researchers regularly highlight the country’s lists of Greatest Americans.
But something’s happened over the last few decades. There’s a deep skepticism – if not outright rejection – of scientific expertise. Significantly, this occurs with climate science, global warming’s origins and its effects on global communities.
The issue is politicized and an objective field finds itself in a political blender with American media reporting on “both sides of the story.” The result is stalled attempts at tackling what the scientific community warns is one of the most pressing issues of our age.
The US debate around climate science and its attitude toward scientists is partisan. According to a recent Pew Research Center report, 70% of self-described liberal Democrats trust climate scientists while just 15% of conservative Republicans do.
HERE’S WHAT WE’RE DOING
You should come. This is a salon. Your voice and participation is valued.
Doors open at 6:30pm. The program runs from 7-9pm. For those who want to stay, there’s a jazz band and plenty of space at the bar to continue meeting new friends.
