A Celebration of John Williams’ Stoner
Nov 18, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm| Free
Join NYRB Classics and Brooklyn by the Book in celebrating Stoner, the international best seller by John Williams.
How did John Williams’ 1965 novel, Stoner, suddenly land on bestseller lists across Europe last year? When New York Review Books put the novel back into print in 2006, word of its excellence spread from reader to reader and writer to writer.
Critic and classicist Daniel Mendelsohn, poet and memoirist Honor Moore, and novelist Ruth Rendell will discuss the incredible—and still-growing—resurgence of the novel’s popularity. Writer and literary critic Liesl Schillinger will moderate the evening.
This is a free event, though reservations are strongly encouraged. Seating is first-come, first-served.
