File this under the City Government Might Be Groovier Than We Thought department: The cost of throwing your own block party, street festival or fair is just $25.75, and the online application is pretty simple too. The only catch is that it has a to be a community based, non-profit venture, so don’t think this is an invitation to shut down your block to have an Etsy sell-a-thon. But maybe you and your neighbors could throw something nice with grills, moonbounces and summer jamboxes?

You have to apply well in advance (90 days for a block party) so make sure to  check the deadlines before you plan your fall block jam.
