I know, I know, it’s “Thursday” “technically” but you know, it’s been a long hot week and you don’t want to think about working Friday. Me neither. So, go to one of these great events I found you on the Brokelyn Event Calendar, and treat the whole night like it’s Friday. Which means, of course, drink and never look back.
THE NARROWS FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Oh hey, The Narrows has survived in Bushwick for a whole five years! That’s pretty good, especially since there are so many bars there and your rent could spike a ridiculous percentage at any moment. So, celebrate with them, especially since beyond the usual good drinks (get the jalapeno-infused tequila and Sol special) there’ll be free barbecue, and everyone loves free barbecue.

ADAM RESNICK AND JEN DOLL IN CONVERSATION WITH DAVE HILL
It’s a relationship smackdown as two literary foes go head to head on whether weddings are fun or awful. In one corner, you’ve got Adam Resnick, arguing in favor of skipping weddings and celebrating being antisocial. In the other, you’ve got Jen Doll, who wrote an entire book about the humorous adventures she’s had going to weddings her whole life. Moderating, you’ve got Dave Hill, who’ll maybe have to officiate Doll and Resnick’s quickie wedding if this thing goes the rom-com route.

A NIGHT WITH THE LUMIPHONIC CREATURE CHOIR
Well, here’s something completely different. If you’re bored of regular old pianos and guitars and drums and other instruments, it sounds like you’re ready for the kind of terrifying, 12-headed art installation/musical instrument, the Lumiphonic Creature Choir. You can interact with it tonight and stare at the faces projected on to the heads and try not to get freaked out as you wonder if the faces of the people staring at you used to be alive and now belong to the machine or what.

SYFY MOVES WITH A VIEW PRESENTS: CLUE
Before the idea of board game adaptations were seen as nightmarish cash grabs, there was Clue, the genuinely weird attempt to turn the murder mystery game about doing it in the library with a pipe into a movie starring Tim Curry and Madeline Kahn. Watch it outside and wonder why John Landis couldn’t have written the Battleship movie.

WEEKEND, REGAL DEGAL, LACED
Has your summer been a bit too quiet? We’d find that a little hard to believe what with New York City’s favorite game “Gunshots or Fireworks” being played everywhere in the five boroughs. If it has though, check out post-punk fuzz masters Weekend, who play a very loud brand of rock and roll and will be doing it in a very small space. They even have a summer song. Kind of.
