Schnitzel Haus, 7319 5th Avenue, (between 73rd & 74th), Bay Ridge, (718) 836-5600
Website

What it is: Bay Ridge’s staple Austrian/German bar and restaurant, Schnitzel Haus is the place to go for a delicious bratwurst paired with a boot of German bier.

Why we love it: There’s so much variety! With 10 different German biers on draft including hefeweizens and doppelbocks and 30 different bottled biers, you can go nuts and dare not to drink the same thing twice. Not only are the eats great and the biers large, but karaoke nights on Thursdays will have you singing a fun tune between your brat bites starting at 9PM. If you prefer to just watch, local bands play all your favorite jams from yesterday and today on Friday and Saturday nights. Have a nice dinner with a date, or bring your friends and see who has the best singing voice on karaoke night. Basically, if they’re hungry or thirsty, they’ll love it here.

What to order: Aw hell, it’s too tough to decide which of their wursts to get, so just order up their Würst teller mit allem Drum und Dran, a platter featuring five different kinds, and satisfy every one of your cravings. Wash it all down with a cold hefeweizen.

Regular tip: Two of their ten taps are reserved for guest biers, so if you love variety, make sure to check in regularly and check out what’s newly available!

Schnitzel Haus is featured in the 2015 South Brooklyn & the Rockaways Beer Book, on sale now.
