What it is: A fantastic restaurant and brewpub serving up traditional Eastern European fare and beer brewed on premises by Greenpoint Beer and Ale Co.

Why we love it: Greenpoint’s first brewpub happened to come along with some seriously satisfying German-style food, and we’re not just talking brats. Schnitzel, 11-hour smoked brisket and homemade pasta are a few of the mains complemented perfectly by nine beers made in house, along with imports like Cologne Germany’s Gaffel Kolsch, Friesland’s Jever Pilsner and Augsburg’s Brauhaus Reigele. The spacious, industrial style seating allow for big groups and making new friends, along with prime viewing of the live music every Friday and Saturday. Keep an eye out for holiday parties and Wednesday night trivia with Geeks Who Drink.

What to order: The chicken schnitzel is bigger than your face and better than any schnitzel you’ve ever eaten this side of the East River. The cauliflower version is just as good, if you’re into veggies, and both get along swimmingly with juicy sides like sauteed mushrooms, housemade semi-sour pickles or shishito peppers.

Regular tip: Brewery tours are available upon request. Get an up-close and personal look at where the beer you’re drinking is made, while downing four half pints of it, for $15.
