Possibly the only thing better in life than beer is a dog, mostly owing to the fact that dogs can show you the affection back that a beer can’t. Knowing this, Smuttynose Brewing and Mary’s of South Slope have partnered with Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue to save dogs from shelters with a week-long initiative happening at Mary’s until Saturday, December 21. For every $6 pint of Smuttynose porter you purchase, which the dog-loving beer makers have donated for the cause, Mary’s will donate $2 to Badass Brooklyn to aid in the rehabilitation of pups sent to high-kill shelters to get them way from demise and into safe homes.

Have a heart and head to Mary’s (708 5th Ave. at 22nd Street) between now and Saturday to prove just how badass saving dogs can be. While you’re there, take advantage of the darts, pool and great music, too.

Plus, worth noting for the beer drinkers out there, the Smuttynose Robust Porter is a very drinkable, smooth and full-bodied ale with notes of coffee and chocolate that makes a rather fine companion on cold winter days. Pair that with saving some dogs and you’ve got yourself a badass evening indeed.
