Standout borough indie ice cream maker Blue Marble Ice Cream and winner of the 2016 Brokelyn Ice Cream Bracket closed their main brick and mortar location back at the end of January, taking the tail end of winter and most of spring to gut renovate their home of eight years. This weekend, Blue Marble will emerge from their waffle cone chrysalis and begin once again serving scoops to the masses.

Blue Marble’s Events Director Sarah Green told us they “probably will be” offering reopening-related discounts.

In addition to Blue Marble’s Prospect Heights spot at 186 Underhill Ave., they also have an itty bitty brick and mortar location in Sunset Park at Industry City.

According to Green, the Underhill location has been gut renovated, including the backyard space which Blue Marble took over from a neighboring preschool a few years ago but never had time to properly renovate.

Furniture is still being moved into the space, but everything will be ready for the public “grand reopening” this Friday the 28th at 8am. The shop hours will be different, with the store not closing till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

UPDATE: The first 100 scoops given out this Saturday will be free! Come early y’all.

  1. Great ice cream to be sure. But there is a deficiency in how this business is run. They opened on Atlantic Avenue, were packed to the gills. But they only signed a 3 or 4 year lease, then lost the store when they renewed. Then they opened on Court Street, long lines every night. But that location also closed prematurely.
